LA ISLA EN VERSOS First Assembly Of Poets Of The World In Cuba. From May 1st To The 11th, 2012

CUBA: May will receive the First Assembly of Poets of the World in Cuba “La Isla en Versos” (The Island in verses). From the 1st to the 11th, there will be poetry readings, lectures, meetings with publishing houses and visits to places of historical and cultural interest. The Assembly is convened by the House of Iberoamerica, an institution that promotes academic, artistic and cultural exchange all year round, as part of the actions carried out by this institution during May Pilgrimage, the World Festival of Artistic Youths, arriving to its 19th edition in 2012. With the peculiarity of interacting with the artists from all over the world meeting there, the trip will start in the Eastern province of Holguin, to arrive later at Santiago of Cuba and, finally, Havana, visiting the three most important cities of the island. It will be co-sponsored by the Saíz Brothers Association and the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, where the artistic the artistic forefront of the country is grouped. The island and its circumstances have inspired musicians, writers, and all kinds of creators throughout time. May this poetic encounter be useful to locate it one more time, like a muse capable of building with words great bridges of friendship, solidarity and love.

The commercial offer includes boardinghouse for 11 nights (April 30th, May 1st to
10th), meals, internal transportation for a journey of more than 2.000 km through
the island, visits to places of historical and cultural interest, certificate,
accreditation, participation in the Poetical Memories of encounter, edited by La Luz
publishing house and Apostrophe Editions; and in the activities carried out during
May Pilgrimage, which states the beginning of the journey.

In these festivities the tradition passes into the future, it summons the best
artists, researchers, critics and cultural promoters to celebrate this Party of
Traditions and Modernity from the streets and areas of the third Cuban capital, in
an assembly of different generations of artists of numerous countries. The festivity
makes of Holguin, city of parks, the new capital of young art. Several concerts and
meetings will take place in it, as significant opportunities for social reflection
and cultural enjoyment. As a peculiarity, this edition will receive the First
Assembly of Poets of the World in Cuba “La Isla en Versos” (The Island in verses).
